Mercedes-Benz Axes Maybach in Favor of Redesigned Models

It was only nine short years ago that Mercedes-Benz reintroduced Maybach to the world. Since then, the brand has impressed many drivers around the world, but unfortunately that impressive presence has failed to translate into stellar sales, which is why Mercedes-Benz has opted to discontinue the brand in favor of redesigning its own lineup.

This is a move that we here at Wilson Mercedes-Benz can't honestly disagree with, as much as it pains us to say. After all, the German automaker needs to look after its own vehicles first and foremost, and they remain much more profitable. And while the original plan was to redesign the 57 and 62 models for the 2013 model-year, the new plan is to simply take some of that inspiration and pump it into the fifth-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Does this excite anyone else out there as much as it does us? This is a great move, and one that we'll see the direct impact of right here in the United States. In our opinion, this move completely evens out the decision to discontinue Maybach.

So what exactly what will happen to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class? That will have to wait. But, for now, we invite you to speculate with us at 1100 Iowa St. Bellingham, WA 98229 by taking the current Mercedes-Benz S-Class for a test drive.
